Changing the face of Poker

It has been said and widely speculated that the game of poker is changing as we know it, and as far as us girls are concerned, “about time too”. Male domination is at an end or at least in sight and with the latest predictions based on online sign-ups, we shall begin to dominate a third of online gambling sites by 2011.

These new shocking statistics are not just Poker, but also include Bingo, Casino and other online slots, but the Poker side is also on the up and it is no longer an uncommon site to see female faces or names registered for an online game and now Poker based companies are starting to take an interest.

When I first started the Girl Club poker site, it wasn't a given that the site would work, I mean who is interested in female Poker players?? and indeed I was asked if the rules were different for girls or if the Poker parlors were sweet smelling and severed mint tea while we play!! “Of course they are” I said, “we also break so that we can go pee in pairs, it's all very civilized”. But now the joke is on them and they are fast realizing that the girl poker thing is here to stay and more worrying is that we are every bit as good as they are, but, it is hasn't solved the age old question, “are all men idiots?

Every player regardless of gender needs some advice and or schooling in the art of Poker as this is not lucky dip gambling, but a very skilled game tactically played. Plenty of Poker sites offer schooling and each of them have tips, tricks and do's and don'ts which mixed with a large slice of common sense would be enough to ensure that you don't lose all on the first couple of rounds. BUT, beware that these tips and tricks while OK online may fail you offline in a real money game, as the strategies offered don't measure in key factors such as adrenaline of the real game, players attitudes and the general feel of a live game.

Regardless of how good you are as an individual player, we as a group (women in poker) must stick together and work our way in to the game that is no longer a gender sport, but one that offers equal chances and opportunities for all, so sign in to GirlClubPoker and start a revolution.
