Prizes that promise the WorldSOP

Is the chance to win a seat in the WSOP interesting to the average player?

There are great prizes to be had at most of the online Poker sites, ranging from cash bonuses, player points and shopping sprees to luxury holidays, so is that enough or do we need more? Now more and more sites are offering a chance to win either a seat at a satellite table leading up to a major tournament, or an actual place at the starting line-up of a WSOP tournament.

BUT, is that what the average poker player is looking for?

Don't get me wrong, this really is a great opportunity for a talented player to get into the big games and get one step closer to being a professional player, but how realistic is it? What level of player do you have to be to actually get anywhere near the money positions?

If we go by the average standard of a player that has only played online and won enough to keep her account in the plus, then we are not realistically looking at the next WSOP champion, but, if you play at a standard where you can confidently play the bigger tables and not lose in the first couple of sittings, then you have a real chance of getting closer to the final table and a mega pay day.

So, what do the rest of us get out of a prize that offers us a shot at a world title?

The answer is simple, "Experience" We get the experience of playing at the top level of Poker as all the players that actually get through the preliminary rounds have a great chance of making it all the way, so by jumping the starting block and landing at the next hurdle doesn't give you a better chance at winning, but it does more or less guarantee that the standard of play will be much higher.

Playing against poker players at this level is a great learning curve for all who dare, so when the opportunity arises take it with both hands as this really is a prize that really could keep giving.

If you think you have what it takes, then check out PokerStars (World Cup of Poker), you could be in with a chance to play in the Bahamas for a share of a $290,000 prize pool.
